Barbara Weinstein

Barbara Weinstein (* 10. Mai 1952 in Brooklyn[1]) ist eine US-amerikanische Historikerin und Professorin an der New York University.[2] 2007 amtierte sie als Präsidentin der American Historical Association (AHA)[3], 2011 wurde sie in die American Academy of Arts and Sciences gewählt.[4]
Weinstein machte 1973 ihr Bachelor-Examen (Geschichte und lateinamerikanische Studien) an der Princeton University. Der Master-Abschluss (1976) und die Promotion zur Ph.D. (1980) folgten an der Yale University. Bevor sie 2007 an die New York University ging, war sie Professorin an der Stony Brook University (1997–2000) und der University of Maryland, College Park (2000–2006).[1]
Ihre Forschungsinteressen sind das postkoloniale Lateinamerika, besonders Brasilien; Sklaverei und Emanzipation; Gender und Sexualität, Rasse und nationale Identität.[2]
