Ramsey McLean

Ramsey Howard McLean ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmschauspieler, Songwriter und Musiker aus New Orleans.
Leben
Ramsey McLean machte sich als Jazz-Bassist und -Cellist einen Namen in der Jazz-Szene von New Orleans. Er spielte Bass und Cello auf dem selbstbetitelten Album Ron Cuccia & The Jazz Poetry Group. 1981 veröffentlichte er als Ramsey McLean & The Lifers das Album History's Made Every Moment. New Orleans Now! 1983 folgte eine Kollaboration mit Tony Dagradi unter dem Titel The Long View. Es folgten weitere kleine Projekte.[1][2] In den 1980ern war er vor allem für seinen Avantgarde-Jazz bekannt, der in New Orleans unter „Jump Jazz“ kursierte.[3]
Neben seiner Arbeit als Jazzmusiker war er auch als Schauspieler zu sehen. 1990 begann er Songs für Harry Connick Jr. zu schreiben. 1993 schrieb er A Wink and a Smile für den Soundtrack zum Film Schlaflos in Seattle. Zusammen mit Co-Writer Marc Shaiman war er bei der Oscarverleihung 1994 für den Oscar für den besten Filmsong nominiert. Der Oscar ging jedoch an Streets of Philadelphia von Bruce Springsteen.[4][5][6]
