Vincent Brown

Vincent Brown (* 1. Dezember 1967 in La Jolla) ist ein US-amerikanischer Historiker und Charles Warren Professor of History, Professor für afrikanische und afrikanisch-amerikanische Studien, sowie Direktor des History Design Studio an der Harvard University. Seine Forschungen betreffen die politischen und kulturellen Zusammenhänge der Geschichte der Afrikanischen Diaspora.[1][2]
Leben
Brown studierte an der University of California, San Diego bis zum BA 1990 und erhielt 2002 den PhD in Geschichte an der Duke University. Dort erlernte er auch die Film- und Videotechnik. Er verantwortete 2013 die thematische Karte Slave Revolt in Jamaica, 1760–1761: A Cartographic Narrative und die TV-Dokumentation zum US-Anthropologen Herskovits at the Heart of Blackness (2009). Sein Buch The Reaper’s Garden: Death and Power in the World of Atlantic Slavery (2008) gewann Preise ebenso wie Tacky’s Revolt (2020) über den Sklavenaufstand 1760 auf Jamaika.
