Walter Raymond Drake (* 2. Januar 1913 in Middlesbrough, Sussex; † 1. April 1989 in Sunderland) war ein britischer Sachbuchautor und Ufologe, der zwischen 1964 und 1986 elf Monographien zum Thema Prä-Astronautik verfasste.
Leben und Tätigkeit
Über Drakes Herkunft, Schul- und Berufsausbildung, berufliche Tätigkeit und Familienstand ist nichts bekannt. Er war ein Anhänger von Charles Fort, aber kein Mitglied z. B. der Fortean Society.
1964 publizierte er sein erstes Werk über Präastronautik, Gods or Spacemen?. In regelmäßig erscheinenden Nachfolgepublikationen versuchte er nachzuweisen, wie außerirdische Raumfahrer Einfluss auf Entwicklung von irdischen Hochzivilisationen nahmen.
Sein letztes Werk erschien 1986 als Cosmic Continents, in dem er Bezüge von Außerirdischen zu fiktiven Kontinenten Atlantis und Mu herstellte.
Nachlass
Eine Art Nachlass befindet sich seit 2012 in Schweden im Arkivet för UFO-forskning (AFU). Neben einer umfangreichen Bibliothek sind auch Manuskripte Drakes überliefert.
