Amanda Martin

British Labour politician From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amanda Martin is a British Labour Party politician and trade unionist who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Portsmouth North since 2024. She gained the seat from cabinet minister, Penny Mordaunt.[1]

A native of Portsmouth, Martin originally worked as a teacher, becoming a school governor and education trustee.[2] She also became chair of the Portsmouth Labour Party and she was once president of the National Education Union.[2]

In September 2024 Martin was elected Chair of the All-party parliamentary group on Gibraltar.[3]

In September 2025 Martin started a new role as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Education.[4]
