Abbott & Co.(Newark) Ltd, established in 1870 by Thomas Abbott and based in The Newark Boiler Works on Northern Road, Newark.[1][2] In 1885 they were visited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and 3 years later in 1888 Issued a Price list on vertical boilers, marine boilers, Cornish boilers, locomotive boilers and torpedo boat boilers. They also had a range of handy hoists and tire-benders. A few years later in 1899 they produced a 9.5 Tonne boiler for The Steamship Chauncy Maples[3] They were visited by Robert Jenrick MP, in January 2015 and referenced in the house of commons[4] More recently they designed and manufactured pressure pressure vessels for use on HMS Queen Elizabeth,[5] and the breaking air reservoirs for the Flying Scotsman. They still manufacture pressure vessels today at Newark boiler works for a broad range of industries. [6]
