Background
Autumn Glow is a bay mare with a star and snip and three socks bred by Newhaven Park Stud, based in New South Wales.
Her sire The Autumn Sun was a five-time group one winning racehorse, winning the J. J. Atkins at two and the Golden Rose, Caulfield Guineas, Randwick Guineas, and Rosehill Guineas and being awarded Australian Champion Three Year Old Colt/Gelding in the 2018-2019 race season. He is a successful sire, siring the likes of Autumn Angel, Coco Sun, and Tutta La Vita[2].
Her dam, Via Africa, was a champion sprinter in South Africa with ten wins from eighteen starts, and a three time group one winner. She is also the dam of two other foals to race, both winners, Pleasant Endeavor and In The Congo[3]. Autumn Glow is a three-quarter sister to In the Congo, sired by Snitzel. Snitzel is a half-brother to The Autumn Sun, both being sired by Redoute's Choice.
She was initially sold as a weanling at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale, on the account of Newhaven Park and bought by Silverdale Farm and Shrone Bloodstock for AU$600,000[4], becoming the third most expensive weanling at the auction[5]. She was later sold by Silverdale Farm in the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, selling for AU$1,800,000 to Arrowfield Pastoral and Hermitage Thoroughbreds[6], with intentions for her to eventually join Arrowfield Stud's broodmare band[7]. She was the most expensive yearling at the sale.[8]
