Education
Marx began playing the guitar at the age of seven in Erding, Germany. He studied with Susanne Schoeppe in Munich and with Roberto Aussel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with distinction.
Supported by a Thornton Scholarship, he continued his studies at the University of Southern California - Thornton School of Music, working with members of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and Pepe Romero. In 2019, he received the Doctoral College Studentship Award which allowed him to start a PhD at the International Guitar Research Centre (IGRC) of the University of Surrey (UK), which he successfully concluded in 2025.[1]

Marx has won more than twelve international competitions, awards and scholarships in Europe and the United States, including prizes in Greece, Italy, Germany, England and the USA. He made his orchestral debut at the age of 17 as soloist with the Erding Chamber Orchestra. His concert appearances have taken him throughout Europe, North and South America, Australia, and Asia[2][3].
