Racing career
Restivo's first job in NASCAR was in 2013 when he worked as an engineer for NTS Motorsports in the Truck Series. He then moved to Turner Scott Motorsports, also as an engineer.[1]
Restivo was an engineer on Chip Ganassi Racing's Xfinity Series No. 42 car with crew chief Mike Shiplett in 2018. After CGR closed down their Xfinity Series team, Shiplett and Restivo continued in their same roles, moving to SHR to work on Cole Custer's No. 00 car. The two moved up to the Cup Series with Custer on SHR's No. 41 car after a very successful 2019 season. He would also get to serve as interim crew chief for the No. 41 car at Phoenix in March 2021 when Shiplett served a 1-race suspension.[2] Restivo moved over to SHR's No. 10 car driven by Aric Almirola in 2022.[3]
On June 20, 2023, SHR announced that Restivo would be promoted to an Xfinity Series crew chief for the team on Riley Herbst's No. 98 car, replacing Richard Boswell, who moved up to the Cup Series to crew chief Chase Briscoe's No. 14 car for SHR.[4]
After SHR closed down at the end of the 2024 season, it was announced on November 20, 2024 that Restivo would follow Herbst to 23XI Racing to serve as his crew chief on the team's new third full-time car, the No. 35, in his rookie season in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025.[5]
