These memes often focus on the old age of Juan Ponce Enrile, editing Enrile into backgrounds from various points of historical eras, making Enrile say quotes that jokingly exaggerates Enrile's age and how he witnessed history. This memes also call Enrile as an immortal.
Origins
The memes began being viral in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Philippines when people in the internet started posting memes of Enrile being immortal.[1] The memes went viral as Enrile has lived a long life and was 96 year old at that time[2] and retired from politics after a failed senate comeback in 2019.[3] Netizens began using social quotes card templates from news sites and photoshopped pictures of Enrile in backgrounds from history to place Enrile as witnessing almost all of human history.[4]
