Frozen 3, stylized as Frozen III, is an upcoming American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. The third installment in the Frozen film series, it is being written and directed by Jennifer Lee and features Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Kristen Bell reprising their roles from the previous films.

Development on a third Frozen film was announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger in February 2023, though Lee initially stated in June that she would not return to direct. Lee eventually decided to write and direct the film in September 2024, with the returning cast being announced in November 2025.
Frozen 3 is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on November 24, 2027.

Production
Development
In February 2023, during the Q1 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a sequel to Frozen 2 (2019) was in active development.[2] Shortly thereafter, MovieWeb exclusively reported that Josh Gad would return as the voice of Olaf in the film.[3] In June of the same year, Jennifer Lee revealed that she would not be returning to direct.[4] At the D23 convention in August 2024, Lee showed the first look concept art of the film.[5] The following month, it was revealed that Lee would be directing the film after all, with her stepping down as Chief Creative Officer for Walt Disney Animation Studios so she could focus on writing and directing this film.[6][7] In November 2025, Gad was officially confirmed to be reprising his role, alongside Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell,[1] while Once Upon a Studio (2023) director Trent Correy signed on as the film's co-director.[8] In February 2026, Gad began recording voice work for his role as Olaf.[9]
Release
Frozen 3 is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States by Walt Disney Pictures on November 24, 2027.[10]
