Hesham A. Saleh is a British consultant rhinologist and facial plastic surgeon. He is a consultant at Charing Cross Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital, and Professor of Practice (Rhinology) at Imperial College London.

Career

Saleh specialises in rhinology, with a clinical focus on nasal and sinus disorders, including complex tertiary referral cases.

He has been involved in the development of multidisciplinary approaches to anterior skull base surgery in the United Kingdom, working with neurosurgical teams to establish joint surgical practice within the National Health Service.[1]

He has contributed to the teaching of anterior skull base surgery in the United Kingdom and chaired a conference organised by the British Society of Skull Base Surgery in 2008.[2]

Since 2001, he has worked in collaboration with ophthalmologists and orbital surgeons and has been associated with the use of endoscopic techniques in orbital and lacrimal surgery.[1]

Saleh has also been involved in postgraduate surgical education, including directing rhinoplasty and functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) courses in London.

Saleh was born in Cairo, Egypt, and educated in Egypt and Iraq. He obtained his medical degree (MBBCh) from Ain Shams University in 1983.

He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1995 and the Intercollegiate FRCS in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in 1999.

His postgraduate training included fellowships in the Netherlands and the United States.

Saleh has published over 140 peer-reviewed articles and more than 40 book chapters in rhinology and facial plastic surgery.
