History
COPSA was formed on 20 October 1930, when owners operating bus services between Pando and Montevideo pooled their operations to offer a more organized passenger service.[2][3] The company grew beyond its original corridor and established itself on suburban routes serving Montevideo and Canelones, as well as eastern interdepartmental services.[2][4]
In 2016, the company's 86th anniversary was marked by a historical exhibition in Ciudad de la Costa and the public display of one of its early buses.[5]
Operations
COPSA's core business has been suburban transport. In 2016, El Observador reported that suburban services accounted for 83% of the company's activity, with its eastern interdepartmental services and Canelones departmental routes making up most of the remainder.[4] In February 2021, the company was incorporated into the Metropolitan Transportation System (STM). At the time, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works said that COPSA covered 47% of the more than 3,000 daily services departing from Terminal Baltasar Brum.<ref name="stm2021">{{cite news |title
