History

Graylog, formerly Torch,[2] was founded in 2009 by Lennart Koopmann and began as an open-source project in Hamburg, Germany.[3]

In October 2014, Mercury made its initial investment in Graylog.[4] e.ventures and Mercury Asset Management became later investors. The other investors were Crosslink Capital, Draper Associates and High-Tech Gründerfonds.[5]

In 2015, the company relocated to Houston, TX.[6]

In 2016, Graylog released its enterprise product as its first commercial offering.[citation needed][7]

In November 2020, the company appointed Andy Grolnick as its CEO.[8]

Products

Graylog is a source-available, open-core Security Information and Event Management [SIEM] and log management platform, licensed under the Server Side Public License. It collects, indexes, and analyzes structured and unstructured machine data in real time.[9]

The company sells Graylog Open, a free open source product, along with Graylog Operations and Graylog Security, priced based on log ingestion.[10]

The platform’s architecture includes a core server component, with Graylog Data Node or OpenSearch handling log storage and indexing, and MongoDB managing metadata and configuration.[11]

Operations

Graylog lists offices in Houston TX (HQ), Boulder CO, London UK and Hamburg Germany.[12] Andy Grolnick is the company's CEO.[13]
