Gus Hartwig

Gus Hartwig (born January 21, 2002) is an American professional football center for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.

Early life

Hartwig attended Zionsville Community High School in Zionsville, Indiana, and was selected to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl.[1] He was rated as a four-star recruit and committed to play college football for the Purdue Boilermakers.[2][3]

College career

As a freshman in 2020, Hartwig played in six games while making three starts en route to being named a Big Ten Conference honorable mention.[4] In 2021, he started all 13 games for the Boilermakers.[5] Ahead of the 2022 season, Hartwig was named to the Rimington Trophy watchlist.[6] That season, he started 11 games for the Boilermakers before suffering an injury.[7][8] In 2023, Hartwig started nine games after missing the first three due to an injury from 2022, once again earning an all-Big Ten honorable mention.[9][10]

Hartwig signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 9, 2025.[13] He was waived/injured on July 29 and placed on injured reserve.[14]
