Shaw was born in England and emigrated to Australia with her family in 1988. She studied law at Cambridge University and worked as a consultant for an engineering firm before entering politics.[1]
On 3 June 2024, it was announced that Shaw would be retiring from politics at the 2025 state election as she wants to focus on "addressing climate change and effecting energy transition".[2]
