Josephine Elizabeth Valeri (born June 17, 2001) is an American professional soccer player and scholar who plays as a defender in the Greek football league system for the women's team of Veria NFC, W.F.C. Veria.

Career

Youth

Valeri developed in the Riverhounds Development Academy, represented Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC as an Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) member, and played for Seneca Valley School District high school.[1][2]

She committed to Point Park University through Century United in 2019.[3]

Academia

Valeri played college soccer for Point Park University from 2019-2023, making 50 appearances.[4] She scored 1 collegiate goal against Carlow University in River State Conference play.[5]

As an academic, Dr. Valeri earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied psychology, a Master of Arts in Clinical-Community Psychology, and a PhD in Critical Psychology at Point Park University.[citation needed]

Her dissertation, “The Potential Value of Humor During Cross-Cultural Adjustment,” was published by ProQuest in May 2025.[6][7] She also published "The Infrapersonal: Intersubjectivity in the Digital Age" the same year with The Humanistic Psychologist, a journal in APA Division 32.[8]

Amateur

Valeri played as a pro-am full-back for the Pittsburgh Hotspurs in the WPSL and UWS from 2021-23.[9]

She played semi-professional in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada with St. Catharines Roma Wolves women's team in League1 Ontario, appearing in 16 matches for the 2023-24 season.[10]

In the Riverhounds Development Academy from age 7, she competed with the club's USL Academy in 2024.[11][12]

Professional

For the 2024-25 season, Valeri signed with S.A. Mykonos (G) where she made 18 appearances across the Women's Beta Ethniki and Greek Cup tournament.[13]

In 2026, Valeri transferred as a defender to W.F.C. Veria, based in Veria, Greece.[14][15]
