Luke Wypler (/ˈwɪplər/ WIP-lər; born May 3, 2001) is an American professional football center for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Early life

Wypler was born on May 3, 2001, in Englewood, New Jersey.[1] He grew up in Dunellen, New Jersey, and attended Saint Joseph Regional High School.[2] Wypler committed to play college football for the Buckeyes at Ohio State University.[3]

College career

Wypler played in one game during his true freshman season at Ohio State before redshirting the season.[4] He was named the Buckeyes starting center entering his redshirt freshman season.[5][6] Wypler started 13 games and an honorable mention on the 2021 All-Big Ten team.[7] He was named third-team All-Big Ten as a redshirt sophomore.[8]

Wypler was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round, 190th overall, of the 2023 NFL draft.[11] As a rookie, he appeared in five games and started one in the 2023 season.[12]

On August 10, 2024, Wypler suffered an ankle injury during Cleveland's first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. Following the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Wypler would be undergoing surgery to address the injury.[13] He was placed on season-ending injured reserve on August 27.[14]
