Taxonomy

The genus name of Neobuchia is in honour of Wilhelm Buch (1862–1943), a German pharmacist and botanist.[4] The Latin specific epithet of paulinae refers to Wilhelm Buch's wife, Amalia Pauline Wilhelmine Buch. Both the genus and the species were first described and published in I.Urban, Symb. Antill. Vol.3 on page 319 in 1902.[2]

Description

It is a tree up to 20 meters tall, with noticeable thorns along the bark. It is found in both dry forest and humid forest at low elevations.[1]
