Samuel Sandoval was born on October 24, 1923, to Julian Sandoval, Jr. and Helen Smith in Nageezi, New Mexico. He had eight siblings: Mabel Sandoval-Penn, Bert, Betsy, Nellie, Robert, Merril, Rodger, and Beulah.[7]
