Musical style

ShamRain has been described as alternative rock,[2] atmospheric rock,[3] dark rock,[4] and gothic rock.[5][6] The band almost completely foregoes the distorted guitars that are otherwise typical of rock music.[5] Instead, in addition to delay, echo, and chorus effects, they also use a keyboard that imitates strings and choirs.[6] This creates an atmospheric, melancholic, oppressive mood.[5]

Radiohead, The Cure, Placebo, Porcupine Tree, Antimatter, and Anathema[7] have been named as comparable artists.
