Head Coaching Record

Some LSU troll seemed to have discovered how to edit the coaching record. The record for him should still be 86 wins. OU has filed an appeal and until there is a decision made on that the wins still count.

I would agree, but unless the page got semi-protection over the next month or so while the appeals process works, there would be some yahoo in here every day changing the records. But you're right (Mr. Anaonymous) in that the penalty doesn't kick in until an appeal has been denied. --WTStoffs 20:53, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
My editing of the Coach's record was primarily motivated to establish consistency among all the pages referring to the team's record in 2005. Some featured 8-4 and some featured 0-4. If it is indeed true that the wins still count until the appeal has been denied, then the record on all the pages should reflect this. J. Charles Taylor 06:42, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Has done in an impressive job over his 7 years at Oklahoma while losing a contributing assistant coach every year.

Number of siblings?

This article states "Stoops, one of 6 children born to Ron Sr. and Evelyn "Dee Dee" Stoops in Youngstown, Ohio." While the Mike Stoops article says he is "Stoops, one of 10 children born to Ron and Dee Stoops". Are there 6 or 10 children in the family? Needs updating

Text under "University of Oklahoma" heading looks like it needs some updating regarding career totals etc. Also the contract information towards the bottom of this section is ambiguous, especially the very last paragraph which is unacceptably vague.

I also suggest that the page "Oklahoma football under Bob Stoops" be elimimated, which I will discuss on that particular talk page. That would entail eliminating the reference to it from this page.151.213.40.224 (talk) 22:48, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

  • 2016 – Even though the bowl game was played in January 2017, it was still the 2016 season. If I remember right, the standard is to list the season they last coached in, so marking 2017 as his last season would be misleading to visitors. His retirement in June 2017 is noted in the article.   • 2016 This is standard procedure for how we deal with tenures for college football coaches. We go by the season in question, not the calendar date. And, moreover, I object to the notion of an RFC specifically on just Stoops rather than the set of all coaches who have also ended their tenure at a given school by coaching in a January bowl game. Yes, it would make more sense to have an RfC about this situation in general. There's nothing that unique about Stoops here. For example, Rich Rodriguez's last game coached at Michigan was the 2011 Gator Bowl, played on January 1, 2011, but we denote his tenure at Michigan as "2008–2010". I'm sure there are many other examples like this. Barry Alvarez, Bo Schembechler, and Lloyd Carr are others like this. Jweiss11 (talk) 16:04, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
This also applies to NFL coaches and players as well. Ray Lewis' final game was Super Bowl XLVII, played in February 2013, but his playing years are given as 1996–2012. Lizard (talk) 17:03, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
