Hydrogen comversion
There is a company trying to use one of these to convert it to hydrogen power as a test for more climate neutral locomotive designs in the future, I was wondering if this would be worth mentioning? 2A02:C7C:7426:F00:3D5F:860A:D465:79DC (talk) 04:19, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

Withdrawal
This edit by WaterDuck8 5741 (talk · contribs) is not entirely correct - but the article was incorrect beforehand. TOPS class 08 was assigned in September 1967, not in 1973; it was renumbering that began in 1973. The numbers 08001-08958 were allotted during January 1973, and omitted 38 locomotives already withdrawn, as follows:
- D3697/8, D4187-90 February 1965 (6) - for conversion to Class 13
- D3193 September 1967 (1)
- D3885 February 1972 (1)
- D3093/5-7, D3101/72 May 1972 (6)
- D3002/3 July 1972 (2)
- D3011/3/4/92/4/8-D3100 October 1972 (8)
- D3000/1/6/26/34/45/78 November 1972 (7)
- D3035/7/8, D3183, D3255/61 December 1972 (6)
- D3069 January 1973 (1)
Of these, D3092-D3101 were withdrawn as non-standard, because they were not fitted with train brakes. Further withdrawals occurred subsequently, several being withdrawn after a new number was allotted but before it could be applied. These included twelve withdrawn during 1973, as follows:
- D3012 January 1973 (1)
- D3019/51/3/87 June 1973 (4)
- D3047 July 1973 (1)
- D3024/8 August 1973 (2)
- D3020/52/88/9 December 1973 (4)

- My source was BRDatabase, which showed D3193 withdrawn in 1967, and the other 30 withdrawn in 1972. I must have missed the 6 turned into Class 13s in 1965. WaterDuck8 5741 (talk) 14:44, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- 1. That source wasn’t in your edit, which it must be - content on Wikipedia must be verifiable to readers without having to hunt through talk pages or page histories.
- 2. BR Database looks very suspiciously like WP:UGC, given their home page asks for “trainspotting logs” and other contributions from users. Danners430 tweaks made 15:21, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
