Novek
Hello @Alarics: I would like to add Novek's analysis comparing societal control and livestock control. I am not so certain about my phrasing however. Certainly I don't know if I got my point across. Invasive Spices (talk) 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry but I don't understand what is meant here. -- Alarics (talk) 09:36, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- This edit. Invasive Spices (talk) 30 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Alarics So don't you think there should be a "legality of use on pets" chapter? 72.83.128.234 (talk) 19:43, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah so my familiarity isn't very good and so I'm sure my phrasing wasn't very good. Novek's position is that 1) corporal punishment of humans is widely used in some societies, not just in particular subcultures or settings, and that 2) this is similar in several ways (not just one) to the way it is used with livestock. organisation
this articles is either about corporal punishments toward children, in an old-school education purposes, and the physical punishment of criminals as ordinary practice in some cultures... a better clarification and distinction would be needed, as well as a more comprehensive history (which is currently -may of 2023- mainly euro- and US-centered) SuperHéraut (talk) 03:49, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

Map
An edit asserts our map has an error. I reverted it, as that should not be in the article, but if the map is incorrect we should update or remove it. Can we verify (with sources) that it is wrong, and what is required please? Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 11:53, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- Articles are e. g. Islamic criminal law in Aceh and Law of Afghanistan. I`m technically not able to change the map.Gesetzesfreak (talk) 12:10, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- My links doesn´t working, but these artikel are in wikipedia! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gesetzesfreak (talk • contribs) 12:11, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
- I've fixed your links. The first was a capitalisation issue, the second is of, not in. I'll look at those pages. But, of course, it is what the pages reference that is important, not what they say. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 08:04, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- Neither of those pages mention corporal punishment. Both discuss capital punishment. Have you confused one with the other perhaps? Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 08:07, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- I haven´t confused it. The site "Islamic criminal law in Aceh" informs about caning. Gesetzesfreak (talk) 10:09, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- But the Afghanistan page does not mention caning either. What sources discuss this for Afghanistan? Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 11:14, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

- There is an article "Judicial corporal punishment in Afghanistan" in Wikipedia. Gesetzesfreak (talk) 16:36, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
- What a horrible page. Note that this is how it looked a year ago . So in November someone replaced that corporal punishment there was illegal with text stating it is legal. We don't source information to Wikipedia. The source given is this which says corporal punishment is illegal but apparently crimes are being punished according to Shari'a law, allowing corporal punishment and amputation. But I'm not happy with that less than definite rendering. So again, what sources do we have (not Wikipedia pages) that discuss the legal status of corporal punishment and in Aceh (where it also appears to be used only under Shari'a law, and is not used for non muslims)? - I´ve added on "Islamic criminal law in Aceh" a new reference of German foreign ministry (Indonesien: Reise- und Sicherheitshinweise - Auswärtiges Amt). The colour of Aceh must be red. Gesetzesfreak (talk) 16:26, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
