WP:URFA/2020
I am reviewing this article as part of WP:URFA/2020, an initiative to review Wikipedia's oldest featured articles. It has been a while since this article has been reviewed, so I took a quick look and noticed lots of uncited statements, including entire paragraphs. Should this article go to WP:FAR? single strand
When did DNA become, by definition, double stranded????? DNA is the well-known polymer with a deoxyribose-phosphate sugar backbone. It most commonly (and no, I don't have a citation. Here I'm guessing.) the term referring to the double-stranded molecule-pair. From what I gather the pairing is accomplished by not just the h-bonding between bases, but also the several van der Waals forces between adjacent rings on the SAME chain. (Not to mention the histone octamer.) Anyway, my point is that chemically the single strand would be the one designated as poly(deoxyribosephosphate) and the double-strand would be...wait for it...double-stranded, or paired, DNA. In fact, the term DNA has several meanings. Claiming that it "is" (just) one of them is misleading.~2026-92463-4 (talk) 16:47, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
