Dev (actor)Dev (Bengali actor) – The current title does not precisely identify the article subject, as Dev (Tamil actor) also exists. Dev (actor) should redirect to Dev § Mononyms, per WP:INCDAB, because pages are almost never partially disambiguated when other standalone articles exist under the same name. — Newslinger talk 08:51, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Dev (Bengali actor)Dev (actor)Dev (actor) – The disambiguation in the current title is unnecessary. The Tamil actor is known as Dev Ramnath, and the title of his article reflects this. The Bengali actor, born Deepak Adhikari, is professionally known and widely credited as simply "Dev." He is a well-known figure in West Bengal, having appeared in numerous successful films and served as a Member of Parliament. He is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of the name "Dev" in the context of acting. This article should be renamed Dev (actor) M1rrorCr0ss 13:57, 10 May 2025 (UTC).  Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 17:20, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

  • Oppose. Dev Ramnath has apparently been credited as Dev multiple times. In any case, they are not even the only Devs who are actors. Dev Patel springs to mind. Clarity is always a good thing. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:55, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
  • Oppose - He is known for being a notable actor in the Bengali industry. The current name is accurate. Shankargb (talk) 17:25, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

Dev (Bengali actor)Dev AdhikariDev Adhikari – The current title is disambiguated as "Dev (Bengali actor)", but this is unnecessary and awkward. The subject's name "Dev Adhikari" is widely used in national media and is sufficiently distinctive. Examples include:

Using "Dev Adhikari" as the article title aligns with common naming conventions and improves clarity. 2409:40E1:CC:BA0F:40D6:2DFF:FE36:20AE (talk) 16:25, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

Discussion on the title

According to me, the title "Dev Adhikari" should be changed into "Dev (actor)". Adhikari is his surname, but he is mononymously known as Dev. As an actor, he also doesn't use his surname.

Please somebody look into the matter. Thank you🙏 Tiger Shankar (talk) 03:14, 5 September 2025 (UTC)

There are two move discussions listed above. If you believe the title is incorrect, follow WP:RM instead of copy-pasting pages, which you were warned about last month. (CC) Tbhotch 06:23, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
It can't be moved, sir. It is semi-protected. The title is incorrect, as every articles on any actors on wikipedia is named after their mononymous petnames, not by their birthnames. So, if you move this to Dev (actor), I will be greatly obliged.
Thank you Tiger Shankar (talk) 08:05, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
@Tiger Shankar: Start a page move RFC as guided in WP:RM. Do not do cut-past moves, you might get blocked. I already explained that in your talk page few days back. This is the third time you tried it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. In the below discussion, I find there to be enough consensus that the article title can be Dev, the problem then lies in identifying the correct disambiguation. I don't see enough of a consensus or argument to warrant a primary topic for the (actor) disambiguator, noting the existence of a redirect at another AT. Closing as moved to the alternatively proposed Dev (Bengali actor). (closed by non-admin page mover) Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 21:24, 7 October 2025 (UTC)

Dev AdhikariDev (actor)Dev (actor) – The actor doesn't use his surname "Adhikari" after his professional name "Dev". This article should be titled Dev (actor), as every articles about any actors or any other celebrities on wikipedia is titled after their mononymous name, not by their real name. I know that there is a Dev Ramnath, but he is credited sometimes as Dev, while the Bengali actor is known by that name only. So, according to me its extremely necessary. Someone please look into the matter. I shall be greatly obliged.

  • Oppose no evidence anything has changed since the previous move request above. * Pppery * it has begun... 20:03, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
Yes sir, the same matter has been requested a few months back. Tiger Shankar (talk) 02:34, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
@BhikhariInformer sir, will you please look into this matter? This issue has been longing for 3 days at least. Nothing has changed. Tiger Shankar (talk) 18:25, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
  • Strong Support: I got a bit surprised to see the previous move on this page. The IP proposer had cherry picked the references to establish his claim. There aren't even 10 references in existence which mention him as "Dev Adhikari". On the other hand, hundreds of articles mention him as "Dev". I am listing a few of them below:

1. The Telegraph -

2. The Indian Express -

3. India Today -

4. Hindustan Times -

Hence, I suggest that the article should be moved to either "Dev (actor)" or "Dev (Bengali actor)" from the present version of "Dev Adhikari". • Support + Suggestion - "Dev" is much more common than "Dev Adhikari". So I'm leaning towards "Dev (actor)". Though there is an article "Dev (Tamil actor)". So, if not the first one, the article can be moved to something like "Dev (Bengali actor)". The [Talk:Dev_Adhikari#Requested_move_11_July_2025 previous move] was done in haste with only a few sources in support. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:48, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
He is Dev Ramnath, sir. He is credited through his full name, while Deepak Adhikari's mononymous name is Dev. So, it's the only suitable title. Tiger Shankar (talk) 14:33, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
