Location map

The map image:LocationDominica.png can be added to the new Dominica page when it is created in the format set out by WikiProject Countries. It is mentioned here so that whoever eventually makes the new page knows that the map already exists. - Vardion 09:19, 26 Oct 2003 (UTC)

PM will need to be changed to Roosevelt Skerrit as soon as he is approved?/installed?. Someone has already changed it on List of national leaders but it doesn't seem to be official quite yet. Rmhermen 21:48, Jan 7, 2004 (UTC)

Photos available (Comment moved from main article)

I have recently returned from a trip that included a day in Dominica. I have a few photos that might be appropriate for this article. They are availible at Yahoo Photo on my account, Veniceslug1. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I would post them myself but I do not know how. Previous unsigned comment was by User:Veniceslug1

To last my post

Thank you for complete comments. I will keep it on mind. Continue your great work.

Carib Villages

By 1903, Edward VII was on the throne, so the special status of the villages cannot have been granted by "the British Queen". In any case, British monarchs don't rule, they reign.

The reservations were either devised by the Colonial Office or, more likely, the local Governor, Administrator or District Officer.

It would be interesting to read more on the history of the Carib people and the Nineteenth Century "black" government of the island, rather than Dominica's hum-drum life as yet another British colony, in the Twentieth Century.

Impossibility

"This special Carib Territory was granted by the British Queen in 1903" - but that's impossible, as the Queen then was Queen Alexandra, who had no involvement. Did it happen under Edward VII, or earlier under Queen Victoria? P.M.Lawrence.

Geologic history

This section of the article begins with the statement that "Dominica first emerged from the sea during the Oligocene era approximately 67 million years ago ...."

The linked article on the Oligocene begins "The Oligocene ... is a geologic epoch of the Paleogene Period that extends from about 33.9 million to 23 million years before the present ...."

Approximately 67 million years BP or about 33.9 million to 23 million years BP? They can't both be right. Woody832 (talk) 15:31, 8 February 2025 (UTC)

Sourcing

@AstroidXD02: Please don't replace sourced claims with unsourced claims, as you did here. Do you have some reason to believe the official government source is incorrect? Nikkimaria (talk) 01:28, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

Names of those historically in charge ?

Normally, articles on other British Colonies give a List of the Governors / Administrators, which this article lacks. I want to know who it was on 19 March 1964 - was it a man called Lovelace ? If so, anything more about him ? First name ? ClayRobin (talk) 19:27, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

List of colonial governors and administrators of Dominica, although the Lovelace entry is unsourced. CMD (talk) 07:55, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
