Effects of curvy roads

Curves are sometimes included in new street construction where flat land permits straight. Surely, curves increase tire wear and increase fuel consumption. I have been unable to find data regarding this. 199.168.104.122 (talk) 13:17, 18 December 2019 (UTC)

Reference 18 (http://s3.amazonaws.com/mark_tranchant/images/tdi-bsfc.png) is a permanent dead link, tagged as such in the article. It is cited twice in the Engine speed and gear selection section as a visual reference for a typical turbo-diesel BSFC map.

A replacement image is available at: https://fuelmarble.com/images/turbo-diesel-bsfc-map.jpeg

It illustrates the same concept — RPM vs torque efficiency contours for a small turbo-diesel — and is hosted on a permanent URL. I have a connection to this site so I am flagging here rather than editing directly, per COI guidelines. Bizbiz2023 (talk) 10:21, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Not done: The {{edit semi-protected}} template is for requesting changes to semi-protected pages. For conflict of interest requests, please use {{Edit COI}} instead. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 11:28, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the correction. Resubmitting with the correct template.

A working replacement is available at:

The image shows the same concept — RPM vs torque efficiency contours for a small turbo-diesel — and is hosted on a permanent URL. I have a connection to this site and am therefore requesting this edit rather than making it directly, per Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy.
