Changes to Medri Bahri section

Socialwave597 recently made edits to the Medri Bahri article and section of Eritreas history called Medri Bahri replacing it with “early modern history” and adding content relating to Abyssinia (former Ethiopian highlands (which is controversial regarding the two nations history. Also the Medri Bahri article which is Eritreas history has been changed completely to a Ethiopcentric format calling it “Merab Malash”, but also claiming it only lasted a couple of years. When in fact it lasted hundras of years until the arrival of the Italians in 1890. More users need to provide their input on this. Leechjoel9 (talk) 20:14, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

Feel free to request a third opinion but no need to revert to your preferred version, especially when you can't find any sources referring to it as "Medri Bahri" in the 19th century. Socialwave597 (talk) 00:05, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
What reference? The best reference is the people who lived in that place and region? The land north of the Merenb River was know as “Medri-Bahri” in the middle ages. My parents and their parents and great-great parents are the real references. No need to have a witness from a wandering European traveler of the 19th or 18th century. ~2026-84834-4 (talk) 23:34, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
In Wikipedia, we need reliable sources (WP:RS). BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 21:47, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
Best to have this discussion at Talk:Medri Bahri per WP:MULTI. You guys should’ve done WP:DRN or an WP:RFC after it became you couldn’t reach a consensus together. Kowal2701 (talk) 10:09, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
@Leechjoel9, I am in discussion with @Kowal2701 and @Socialwave597 who have been arguing to maintain the Medri Bahri article as an Ethiopian-biased POV article. We seriously need other editors to give feedback because they have noted through their edits to present Medri Bahri as a "province of" or "semi-autonomous kingdom subordinate to" the Ethiopian Empire. In this response Socialwave stated "especially when you can't find any sources referring to it as "Medri Bahri" in the 19th century", however, there are plenty of sources used to call it "Medri Bahri" as well as it being autonomous kingdom. I don't understand why they are ignoring the sources which disagree with their Ethiopian-biased Perspective WP: NPOV. Menhelicks (talk) 23:20, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
