European Economic Community created in 1951?

In the lead, it says: "The FRG was a founding member of the European Economic Community in 1951, while the GDR was a communist Eastern Bloc state and a founding member of the Warsaw Pact."

1) The article about the European Economic Community states that it was created in 1957, not 1951.

2) Isn't it inconsistent to give a specific year for West Germany but not for East Germany? Shouldn't we state the year for when their founding member organization was created for either both or none to be consistent? Maxeto0910 (talk) 00:49, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

I've removed the year. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:52, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

I propose including historical events in the country main infobox

I propose that historical events be included and authorized in the article.

In my view, the article on Germany needs details about events that have occurred in its history, such as the "German unification of 1871", the two "World wars", the "division in FRD & DDR", and the "1990 German reunification". JPPEDRA2 why not? 20:39, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

We removed this parameter 20 years ago - Template:Infobox too long#Rationale for usage Moxy🍁 22:49, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
So it's not possible to include event details even shortened? If not, I will end this discussion, concluding that the current version without parameters will be maintained. JPPEDRA2 why not? 23:54, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
I should be more clear.... Current ..as in today's existing countries articles don't use the parameters/sections for "Historical era" or "Preceded by" to avoid huge giant infoboxes that make mobile view a scrolling nightmare just to get to the second paragraph of the lead or causes sandwiching of text in the sections below the lead. Soviet Union and Washington, D.C. are examples we're trying to avoid ...V.S....Japan and Roman Empire that list minimal info. Smaller is better ... not just for infobox data over information..but for the article as a whole...as outlined at Template:Infobox too long#Rationale for usage. Our goal with country articles is to have the most relevant links about the current nation and make the article as a whole as accessible as possible. Moxy🍁 00:33, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
Okay, so at least we should only include 1871 and 1990? JPPEDRA2 why not? 01:31, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
Italy also has pretty long infobox. JPPEDRA2 why not? 01:32, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
Generally country articles that are at the GA or FA level are designed a bit better... see a list at WP:COUNTRYSIZE. Moxy🍁 01:37, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Flag

There seems to be some back-and-forth going about whether we should use File:Flag_of_Germany.svg vs File:Flag_of_Germany_(RGB).svg. I don't personally have a strong preference, but it would be good to get it settled; does anyone have any arguments to present for one or the other? Nikkimaria (talk) 03:20, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

I prefer the non-RGB flag because the RGB version looks a bit oversaturated to me. Maxeto0910 (talk) 22:05, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi there, this is the English-language Wikipedia. It's also not clear what you are suggesting - are you suggesting a change, an addition, incorrect information, etc? If you are more comfortable in Portuguese, please see the Portuguese-language Wikipedia. jolielover♥talk 16:56, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Capitalising informal region names

As there is a difference of opinion on whether Germany is in "central Europe" or "Central Europe", there is a discussion at talk:Central Europe#Capitalising informal region names to which editors of this article may wish to contribute. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 20:08, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
