Talk:John Boehner

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

please change ((Kevin McCarthy)) to ((Kevin McCarthy (California politician)|Kevin McCarthy))

His surname is pronounced "benner". Ben, like Ben Franklin.

Please ask a European, and you will see. It's pronounced ben-er. BEN-er. People have been mispronouncing it.

Responded

I think it’s cute that “responded” was used rather than “retaliated” 2600:1005:A122:A99A:C43B:2532:1869:2D0F (talk) 05:37, 6 September 2025 (UTC)

The assertion that John Boehner resigned "due to opposition from within the Republican conference" is false. The truth is that, from the day he entered Congress, he promised himself and his family that he would retire before his 65th birthday. The opposition within the Republican conference was from the Freedom Caucus, which never had the numbers to remove Boehner, and no one knew this better than Boehner himself. Yes, they annoyed him, and yes, he called them "knuckleheads" on at least one occasion, which upset them. They behaved like children and treated them accordingly. He certainly was never cowed by them. To infer this is just a flat-out lie. ~2025-41309-76 (talk) 04:42, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
