The state of Kerala has been renamed to Keralam to match with it's native language. Change "Article 3 of the Constitution to reflect its Malayalam identity." to "Article 3 of the Constitution to reflect its Malayali identity."
Reason: "Malayali" refers to the people of Kerala, whereas "Malayalam" refers to the language. Since the sentence refers to identity of the people/state rather than the language itself, "Malayali identity" is the more accurate term. JaredSanashi (talk) 16:57, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Kerala is not Kerala anymore
Kerala is named as Keralam now officially. You guys need to change it. ~2026-13024-91 (talk) 18:53, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Please look at the multitude of denied requests above. We are not changing the name of the Kerala article. Please see WP:COMMONNAME. aesurias (ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk) 22:01, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- per WP:COMMONNAME Why is Mumbai not Bombay?? And Odisha not Orissa? Keralam is always Known by this name both traditionally and locally. Please refer to WP:NAMECHANGES and to add consistency(WP:CONSISTENT) for the state names of India. The title of the Article must be Keralam and if not please change Odisha to Orissa and such articles for consistency.
- J.Stalin S Talk 11:20, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Those name changes happened a long time ago and (at least in the Western world), Mumbai is a much more recognizable name than Bombay. I think it would be best to read WP:COMMONNAME properly next time.
- FYI, I find it rather ironic that your own user page uses "Kerala" not "Keralam". aesurias (ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk) 21:08, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- I beg to differ. Kerala is more common in usage than "Keralam". Kaeez06 (talk) 17:19, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Not done: See above. LizardJr8 (talk) 23:02, 27 February 2026 (UTC)- Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's official name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit the five criteria listed above Akbarali (talk) 05:32, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

- Okay. TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 18:40, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe because It just got changed?? Parabelleum (talk) 12:14, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- The article section dealing with the renaming indicates that the cabinet approved it, but it still has to go through the state legislature and national parliament. Has this been done? At the very least we would need sourcing that the legal processes are finished; then that would go along with references showing that the name is in current usage. - Exactly, so the cabinet has approved it but the legislature and parliament have not. So we should wait at least until that is done. LizardJr8 (talk) 20:08, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
- Btw are you even from India. because, If you need to change the name of a state, the state legislature must accept it first and sent it to the centre. So you sentence is just wrong. TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 20:08, 1 March 2026 (UTC)

Malayalam Language Bill (2025) officially passed
The Malayalam language bill (2025) has officially passed with the Governor signing it into law on 4th March 2026. This information must be reflected in the languages section of the article.
I hope the administrators take the just, fair and intended effort to update this article. There is a source currently used on the article which relies on the malayalam language bill being withheld and that is to be rectified along with this. Cheers!
KJDKottayam (talk) 19:11, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- "Malayalam is the official language of Kerala" This statement is already in the Language section of the Article. However the sources may be updated where relevant. J.Stalin S Talk 11:40, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
State Microbe of Kerala
the microbe ' Bacillus subtilis ' is declared as Kerala's state microbe. It is therefore requested for an edit in the article to add this in the state symbols section of the infobox. It is also worth noting that Kerala has become the first state in India to declare a state microbe.
Hoping for a positive response from the end of the administrator. Cheers! KJDKottayam (talk) 19:21, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- Please add a request to Template talk:Infobox Indian state or territory if you are suggesting the same to add on the infobox. J.Stalin S Talk 11:34, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
