I have finished doing a significant amount of trimming to reduce the length of the article. It was 16,000 words and is now about 12,000. A large portion of the trimming was to the Professional Career section. I am sharing a link to the page as it was before the trimming began, for furture reference. At some point, someone may want to create a separate Career of LeBron James article, similar to Career of Lionel Messi. Alternately, someone may want to create separate articles for each of James' seasons, in the manner of Serena Williams. For these potential endeavors, it will be helpful to review the old version of the page, which has all the content that was removed during the trimming process. The section “Legacy” contains a paragraph about “Bronsexuals” that is misleading at best. I think that this paragraph has its place on the page, but it needs a few modifications: first, it should be better phrased, as it is it reads as hollow accusations; second, it needs to be better sourced, they are very weak now; third, it needs contextualization saying it is a discourse coming from older generations to marginalize younger ones; fourth, it needs to be in the “Career” section, as the subject is a description of part of his fanbase and how it is perceived, it has no direct link to his legacy as a player and his documented accomplishments, awards and distinctions. ~2026-48347-3 (talk) 20:11, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Please use a "change x to y" format to propose the exact changes you would like to see made to this paragraph. Day Creature (talk) 00:23, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your answer. The paragraph in question is the following:
- Fans perceived as overenthusiastic about James have been satirically referred to as Bronsexuals, characterized as having a man crush on Lebron James. Furthermore, it is emphasized that amongst that fandom demographic, a bandwagon effect and biases towards Lebron James have obscured clarity in the legacy debate versus Jordan, such as recency bias.
- I checked the sources and they are opinion based articles. There are no serious studies nor verifiable and quantifiable metrics. It doesn’t seem to have its place in the “legacy” section. It talks about his fans, not about himself. The subject should be his legacy and what accomplishments he has. If it’s based on opinions, it goes against the concept of a source if it’s not framed as such. Furthermore, the paragraph seems very passive aggressive. If you read the sources, they are all written by older men who think Jordan is the best. They are allowed to have their opinion, but it shouldn’t be part of the article. The term “Bronsexual” seems very insulting as well, I can’t see why it would be part of a legacy.
- I would suggest erasing that paragraph and include a section in his “Career” section talking the Michael Jordan Vs. LeBron James debate.
- I would suggest the following text for the “Career” section:
- Michael Jordan Vs. LeBron James debate
- Widely regarded as the two most influential players in NBA history among fans, LeBron James and Michael Jordan are at the center of one of the most enduring debates in sports fandom. The discussion centers on how greatness is defined rather than on a single agreed-upon metric. Supporters of Jordan often emphasize his six NBA championships, undefeated Finals record, peak dominance, and cultural impact during the 1990s. While supporters of James point to his longevity, all-around statistical production, adaptability across eras, and sustained success with multiple teams support his career length. Objectively, Jordan represents a higher peak over a shorter prime, whereas James represents unprecedented durability and cumulative excellence over two decades. Because their careers unfolded in different contexts, rule sets, and competitive environments, the debate persists largely as a comparison of values (peak versus longevity) rather than a settled factual conclusion.
- That way we can keep some of the sources from the original paragraph, since we clearly frame them as OPINIONS, and we could add some to argue LeBron’s side:
- https://www.businessinsider.com/the-last-dance-shifted-stance-jordan-lebron-goat-debate-2020-5
- These are also opinion based articles, because it is a DEBATE with multiple sides. There is no answer to this question, and the paragraph I’m asking to erase makes it sound like there is. ~2026-48347-3 (talk) 16:32, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for such a detailed reply. The best way to ensure these changes get made would be to make a WP account and start editing pages, and pretty soon you'll be able to edit the LeBron page on your own. You only need to make 10 edits and have an account for 4 days to edit this page.
- If I have the time, I may be able to delve into your suggestions and all the sources and do some rewriting, but it's going to take awhile to incorporate everything you suggested. You seem like you have the intelligence and diligence to be a good Wikipedia editor, so I'd encourage you to become one! 😊 OrdinaryOtter (talk) 21:38, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
- I have removed the Bronsexual segment for now, since it was based on poor sources. OrdinaryOtter (talk) 18:40, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Politics section
I have three questions about this section:
- Should the name be changed to "Social issues", "Social justice" or something similar? I don't think "Politics" quite captures what the section is about.
- Is there a reason to have the photos of James meeting Bush and Obama? These images are not illustrating the text. Obama is mentioned in the text (but not his 2012 meeting with LeBron), while Bush is not mentioned at all. We could also put the Obama photo in the following section, where James' support of Obama is talked about.
- The second sentence, "These issues include..." has many citations in the midst of the text, which I feel negatively impacts the reading experience. Would anyone mind if I bundle the various citations at the end of the sentence?
Thanks!

- FWIW, Taylor Swift has separate "Social activism" and "Philanthropy" sections, instead of James's top level "Activism" section. But I'm not sure if he's an activist, per se, or a celebrity with public viewpoints. Could be that it's more appropriate under "Public image".—Bagumba (talk) 07:06, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- Re: citations: It's inline with MOS:REFPUNCT to have them after punctuation, which also makes verification easier with the citation immediately adjacent to the specific text it's supporting. —Bagumba (talk) 07:16, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
- The photos only correlation is that they are with politicians under a "Politics" section. Otherwise, he was not meeting the presidents as an activist—they were visiting the US national team, which he was a member of. —Bagumba (talk) 07:21, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

In 2023, LeBron surpassed the previous record amount of points scored in a professional career (38, 387 by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), and since then has amassed over 5,000 more. Please don't remove me bot (talk) 19:04, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. meamemg (talk) 19:58, 2 March 2026 (UTC)- The facts you mentioned are already in the article:
- "On February 7, James passed Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time leading scorer in NBA history."
- "On March 4, James surpassed 50,000 career points across the regular season and playoffs."
- Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with. OrdinaryOtter (talk) 16:47, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Records
Is there a particular reason this article doesn't have a records section? ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 14:49, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- There's a link to a mostly unsourced list of minutiae at List of career achievements by LeBron James. Maybe when someone feels like taking it to WP:FA, some of his key records, like career points, will be added to prose at LeBron James § Legacy. —Bagumba (talk) 17:28, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- Dang, I didn't think to look for that link there. I figured he would have had his own dedicated records section like a lot of other players. It's a similar issue to Wayne Gretzky's article where the honors section is a hidden link. I know I sound like a broken record bringing up Gretzky all the time though. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 19:09, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Weight
Does it make sense to list LeBron's weight in the article? Unlike height, weight fluctuates, so it seems odd to mention it in a way that makes it seem static. OrdinaryOtter (talk) 19:43, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
- The infobox displays "Listed weight"; prose could do the same. I believe teams update measurements at least once a year. James' profile is here. Fans probably know these aren't realtime measurements. Not sure if non-fans would find it terribly misleading. —Bagumba (talk) 19:55, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

It’s supposed to say Heat, not Cavaliers in this paragraph.
“In Game 5, James registered a triple-double as the Cavaliers defeated the Thunder for their second-ever championship and James' first.” Jeffrey149147 (talk) 17:35, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Fixed, thanks for catching that. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 17:48, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

Infobox
Just a thought—the infobox might look better if we made it shorter by removing the Career Highlights section, since all those accolades are at the bottom of the page anyways. Not necessary, but I do happen to think Leo Messi's infobox looks nicer and neater without so much information. OrdinaryOtter (talk) 02:52, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
- The point of MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE is that many/most readers don't get past the lead section. And then with crowd-sourced editing, some editors will want one accolade or another listed to be "consistent". FWIW, the current NBA project guidance is at WP:NBAHIGHLIGHTS. —Bagumba (talk) 04:50, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
- @OrdinaryOtter: I've trimmed a few items per WP:NBA5+ which exists to try to keep a lid on excessive bloat of high school awards for highly accomplished NBA players. Left guide (talk) 05:03, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
