Secular Democratic Alliance → Sanjukta MorchaSanjukta Morcha – The alliance was popularly and almost universally known as Sanjukta Morcha in media and public discourse, not as "Secular Democratic Alliance", which saw little to no usage. Reliable sources overwhelmingly refer to it as Sanjukta Morcha.

- No comment on the request itself, but an oppose on this basis is without merit – the article is currently at Secular Democratic Alliance and most incoming links point directly at it (rather than going via the redirect), so of course it has far more pageviews. I would suggest the fact that there are so many incoming hits via the redirect suggests there may be quite a lot of searching using that name. Number 5 7 20:30, 14 July 2025 (UTC)
Comment – In my evaluation of English-language sources, the use of each name is split almost 50/50, with a few more articles using the current name. However, Sanjukta Morcha is the name the group itself uses in its English publications. Yue🌙 18:56, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

On move revert

A short clarifying note - I reverted the undiscussed move from Secular Democratic Alliance to Left Front-led Alliance, and reinstated the article on the SDA. SDA was a formal and notable alliance that has now gone defunct. It should have an article of its own. Arguably whatever arrangements the LF is doing for the 2026 elections is something different than SDA, and the two concepts should not be mixed.

On the merits of a separate LF+ article, there is a tendency in Wikipedia on Indian elections to want to connect dots and present elections as fought between neatly defined alliance blocs. In reality, the dynamics of electoral pacts and seat-sharing arrangements often don't conform well with the desire of Wiki editors to create neat tables. In the case of LF in the 2026, I find no support in the LF-led Alliance version edit history that a new broader alliance has actually been created. The Stateman article indicates an ambition to broaden seat-sharing alliance for 2026 elections, Lokmat Times article (which btw seems to use very doctored AI image of CPI(ML) flags) indicates that CPI(ML)L would contest 10 seats in alliance with LF. I can't access the TV9 Bangla ref, but doubt that it says something factually different that the Statesman or Lokmat Times references. As such the notion of a distinct "Left Front-led Alliance" would be a Wiki-universe creation, as opposed to a real world entity. @Soman Some days ago, CPIM leader MA Baby in a press conference used the exact term Left Front +. CPIML Liberation will contest being part of the Left Front led alliance. ISF is another such party. There are more parties too. XYZ 250706 (talk) 12:12, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Any reference for the claim that CPI(M) has used this term? I get that LF will have seat-sharing outside its membership, and that is nothing new per se. LF has supported candidates from JD and RJD in the past. The question boils down to - is there another alliance separate from LF? For example, is there a tangible name and identity for this supposed alliance? Is there a joint committee or coordination of any sort? I get that LF will do seat sharing with both CPI(ML)L and ISF, but is there any platform were LF, CPI(ML)L and ISF gather? If not, there is no need for a WP:CONTENTFORK. Now, a more appropriate article title might be Left Front in the 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election. --Soman (talk) 19:51, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Regarding Left Front+ page

Don't move the page anywhere, neither to the past alliance page or anywhere else. Congress has already left the alliance & the Sanjukta Morcha or SDA chapter has been closed. Ahead of 2026 polls, Left Front has given a call for broader alliance or unity of left parties that's why Left Front-led Alliance (LF+) page has been created to describe it as a broader alliance of centre-left to left wing parties.
