Talk:Leica Camera

Leica built its early business on the outstanding quality of its design and especially its lens design....but there is no mention of this or how the lenses were designed and the glass used. At the time when Leica was growing Zeiss was doing its utmost to better Leitz quality using innovative designs and new glass formulations - what was Leitz doing to stay ahead?

I am not sure why Leica doesn't make 35mm movie lens or movie camera's? They make great lens as it would be great to see a movie camera from Leica versing Panavision. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.205.229.251 (talk) 00:49, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

They do make Cine lenses... In fact they've won awards: "An Academy Scientific and Engineering Award was presented to Iain Neil for the optical design and André de Winter for the mechanical design of the Leica Summilux-C lenses."^[1] Also, this article has a lot of information about the history of leica's cinematic lenses. I know it’s original research, but I can attest that Leitz upgraded my old Leica IIIc to IIIf specifications around 1963 or so. FWIW. Maurice Fox (talk) 01:26, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

This Leica I camera was produced in 1927. Intended as a compact camera for landscape photography, the Leica I was the first practical 35 mm camera that used standard cinema 35 mm film. Archive – More featured pictures...

The company history, which looks like it was translated from the source (not good), was added in this edit from December 2017. It seems to have information already present in the article under History, and having two sections like this is problematic anyway. I don't speak Germany and don't know that much about the subject though, so I'm not sure I would be a good candidate to clean this up.
