2011, not 2012?
In sub section Industry influence, regarding:
- "In 2012, ... His essay "Software is eating the world":
Wasn't it published in August 2011, not in 2012?
Missing topics
I'm coming here primarily from tescrealism, where Émile P. Torres talks abut how tescrealism is rooted in conservative, right wing ideas, although it should be said, throughout the last century or so, people and movements from the left to the center have embraced similar ideas, so it's not purely a right wing phenomenon, just one that gravitates to people on the right for various reasons and culminates in what is known as effective accelerationism in the modern era, with Andreessen currently identifying with the philosophy in a public way. In this light, his self-published Techno-Optimist Manifesto, which is described by fierce detractors on the left as right-wing elitism in defense of billionaires, contains not just elements of this kind of tescrealism, but cites various center and right wing figures in its protracted argument. And unless I'm missing something, the left is vilified as enemies of progress. With all this said, the reason I'm writing this is to fill in the gaps in the tescrealism coverage on Wikipedia, so I'll be making these kinds of comments on dozens of pages. But the one thing that stands out here in Andreesen's biography is the absence of this kind of discussion, even though the subject has been pretty open about the topic. It would be great if more could be said about his techno-optimism philosophy, and if possible highlight any direct responses by his critics. Viriditas (talk) 22:46, 18 August 2024 (UTC)
Pronunciation of surname
These are not pronounced the same are they? /ænˈdriːsən/ AN-dree-sen. The first has the stress on the second syllable and the second has the stress on the first. Which is it? 82.69.72.254 (talk) 12:44, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Update with recent political activity?
Should this page include something about his current role as an advisor to Trump and political statements 2604:3D08:997D:C330:39CC:57F9:4E32:B262 (talk) 23:14, 12 July 2025 (UTC)
I research before I expand
@Alenoach I consider early life very relevant and rearch what I add. you reverted my WP:RSed additions with the odd remark confusing reference. What is confusing ? You can read the wording verbatim there, exactly what has been said about where he grew up. I will reinsert, as it seems to be a research gap on your part. Wuerzele (talk) 05:41, 15 October 2025 (UTC) Re unsourced statement about programming: No, it was sourced, but the statement had a typo which you could have corrected reading teh source. I corrected the figure. Thanks.--Wuerzele (talk) 05:52, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- I wasn't familiar with the expression "the sticks", as I'm not a native speaker, my bad. For the sentence about programming, the previous version had an incorrect date, but the current one is ok, I just replaced "learnt" with "discovered", as per the source.
