List of every course?
This is only a suggestion, but would it be a good idea to have a list of every course to appear in the Mario Kart series? It can either be in this article or a separate one. If this idea is approved, then I'd be happy to start it off myself. If it's rejected, then that's completely fine with me. SuperWikiBrother (talk) 13:31, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Absolutely not. This falls under WP:GAMECRUFT and Wikipedia is not a game guide. ThomasO1989 (talk) 18:40, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
About this article
I could see what you said earlier. We definitely don't need tables for characters and courses. This is similar to the Just Dance articles. Why is the page cruft? 45.72.206.128 (talk) 02:00, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
Characters and courses
I remember that users/editors need to add a consensus before adding new sections such as characters, vehicles and courses. How do we add a consensus? 99.209.40.250 (talk) 14:17, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'll get it out of the way first that both the list of courses and a list of vehicles are not appropriate for Wikipedia, especially where we literally listed off every course in the series and whether or not they return in future installments. None of this is covered by any reliable source. Also, none of these courses aside from Rainbow Road have a dedicated article that covers their notability. For example, a course called "Moo Moo Farm" appearing in MK64 and MKWii, with no other information given, is only useful to those that have played the games and know what Moo Moo Farm is. Same for a list of vehicles. This is pure WP:GAMECRUFT. As for the list of characters, Super Smash Bros has repeatedly been brought up as a precedent. Ignoring WP:OTHERSTUFF, SSB differs in that every character has an associated Wikipedia article (or at least a link to the game it originally appeared in), establishing at least some previous notability, and the inclusion of each character is often heavily covered in reliable sources. For Mario Kart, most of the characters at this point are relatively minor or have been invented for Mario Kart (Peachette, Musician Mario, Chargin' Chuck, Baby Daisy, etc), have no existing articles, and generally don't make headlines whether or not they are included. ThomasO1989 (talk) 17:18, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Chargin' Chucks are from Super Mario World. 2600:6C4A:5A00:A68:92E8:68FF:FE92:BE1F (talk) 09:12, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
- And? Doesn't change the fact that it's an extremely minor character that isn't covered by reliable sources. ThomasO1989 (talk) 16:11, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Is Mario Kart Tour a mainline entry in the Mario Kart series
Mario Kart Tour is present in the course selection for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it also has differing gameplay mechanics. For comparison, the Super Mario Wiki does not refer to Tour as a main entry of the series. (Oinkers42) (talk) 15:14, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- It's not available on consoles, and is not marketed as a "Mario Kart 9". Let's try not to give too much credence to a blocked editor's edit warring unless you have reliable secondary sourcing to present. -- ferret (talk) 15:26, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, I started this discussion due to my own views on the subject (though the recent edit warring is what caused me to start this discussion now). Also, I am having trouble finding reliable sourcing on this topic in general. (Oinkers42) (talk) 15:29, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
- nintedo counts it as a main entry they have the saying not you or the super mario wiki you never convince me with the lies you say 87.210.159.212 (talk) 10:57, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- If Nintendo considers it to be a main entry, please provide a source that says so. The Super Mario wiki is user-submitted and not a source to go on. And also, "the lies you say"? We're discussing whether or not Tour is a main entry. Take a breather before hitting the edit button, would you? Your tone isn't helping. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 11:57, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- A source establishing a difference between what you call "mainline" would be needed first. VehementMan (talk) 14:43, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
Remove "Upcoming games" section?
The article sites claims made three years ago and there has since been no word about a new entry, putting the validity of the claims into question. VehementMan (talk) 14:45, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed. I had removed this over a year ago, but it was reverted back because "speculation stated by reliable sources may be included." But it's been over 2 years. Even if it's reported by reliable sources, it's outdated and no longer applies to reality. Yes, a new Mario Kart is undoubtedly on the way, but it was obviously too early to report on. Untitled Switch game in bold
Should we really have the untitled Switch 2 Mario Kart game in bold? It'll probably be a main entry game, but we have literally zero official information, so we shouldn't assume it. Maxeto0910 (talk) 20:11, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Also, we should be careful with calling it a new Mario Kart game. It could potentially be a remake of an older title, with the new track we saw just being an extra track or hub place, and the increased number of players being a new feature. Sure, very unlikely, but not impossible. Maxeto0910 (talk) 05:15, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, this thread can be archived now. HERE WE GO, GUYS, MARIO KART WORLD!!! Maxeto0910 (talk) 16:08, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
Mario Kart Slot Machine
I was thinking about adding the Mario Kart 64 slot machine under arcade or legacy. It is a forgotten relic that was licensed by Nintendo but I think it could be important to include. Cpargman (talk) 21:43, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
Mario Kart in popular culture
I believe this article could be improved with the addition of an "In Popular Culture" section. This section could detail how the series and games have been used and referenced in popular culture whether that be the popular party game "Beerio Kart," its significance in the Mario movie, etc. This section could fall under "Legacy" as it's tangential related to Mario Kart's legacy or it could potentially be an entirely new section. Let me know your thoughts on this ! Joelmarkley (talk) 21:51, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
Should the Switch be considered a regular or handheld console?
Currently in the Sales section, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch is listed with the regular consoles. Is it worth classifying the Switch as a handheld console instead? InCSCIClassRN (talk) 21:54, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- It's a hybrid console, therefore it counts as both. SleepDeprivedGinger (talk) 22:13, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
Should the image of the logo change to the one from World
I thought it would be logical Serouj2000 (talk) 11:08, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
- I do agree it should change. However, the new italicized version of the Mario kart logo only appears in the logo for Mario Kart World at the moment. Cropping out a version from the World logo tips the line of breaking the not a fan website rule, so it would probably be wise to wait for Nintendo to release an empty PNG version of the logo, or for the game to come out for people to dig around in the files to find a sperate version of the logo. - Do not state it is your own work. The uploaded logo that was used in Mario Kart World was stated to be someone's own work. All logos by Nintendo are actually owned by Nintendo, not players who didn't contribute to the development of the game. The image is fair use, but not public domain. Learn more... Reformat console games section
In my sandbox, I've developed a reformatted version of this article's list of console games, using a video game titles table template. The current one is completely unsourced and mostly (if not all) relies on original research. For my revision, I've added citations (some of which from each game's articles) for as much of the provided info as possible.
Does my revision of the list seem of interest to anyone? And if so, should it be implemented into the article? If it is, the only compromise is that the release timeline would have to be removed, as it would create a ton of empty space (on desktop, at least). I'm also open to the possibility of the new format being used for the other types of Mario Kart games. Signed, SleepyRedHair. (talk - contribs) 14:22, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
