Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:37, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

Requested move 27 March 2026

Mitchell TrubiskyMitch TrubiskyMitch Trubisky – The name he currently goes by . Dafootballguy (talk) 02:44, 27 March 2026 (UTC)  Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk 07:34, 3 April 2026 (UTC)  Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk 12:50, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Oppose What is this based on? I still mostly see Mitchell with most sources.-- Yankees10 03:26, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Support as that is the name that's pretty much always used except for on official pages/player listings. If you look at the sources used in that article you can see how news reports generally use "Mitch". Also, can any of you remember actually hearing someone call him Mitchell Trubisky instead of Mitch Trubisky? Because I can't.Yes I know anecdotal experiences are technically not a real argument, but y'know, come on.

See ,, ect. He goes by Mitch now. Dafootballguy (talk) 22:31, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
I'm supporting the move you don't need to convince me further. Did you mean to respond to the other editor? ⹃Maltazarian parlayinvestigate 00:35, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes I did, sorry for the bother. Dafootballguy (talk) 00:36, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
No worries. ⹃Maltazarian parlayinvestigate 00:57, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose It's close, but a change based on WP:COMMONNAME needs to be based on the significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources. Trubisky is called Mitchell in all his official pages and major databases . Independent coverage uses both Mitchell and Mitch , so I'm not seeing a significant majority using "Mitch" for now. Qwaiiplayer (talk) 15:35, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose. Usage in reliable sources is split. His own blue-check Insta uses "Mitchell". 162 etc. (talk) 18:21, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
Note: WikiProject Biography/Sports and games, WikiProject University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, WikiProject National Football League, WikiProject Cleveland, WikiProject Chicago Bears, WikiProject College football, and WikiProject North Carolina have been notified of this discussion. • Oppose as the sources used in his article are split between "Mitch" and "Mitchell". Assadzadeh (talk) 13:41, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose based on a large number of sources that still refer to Mr. Trubisky as "Mitchell." A change based on WP:COMMONNAME needs a significant majority of references to use the proposed article title, otherwise it is best to keep the status quo. Frank Anchor 13:49, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
Oppose Per all of the arguments above. Particularly that from 162 etc. What's the point of this move anyway? And looking at this source: , he is also fine. And I can understand that myself. Mitchell is a full name, and Mitch is a common WP:HYPOCORISM, and many players are referred to by Hypocorisms time and time again. Servite et contribuere (talk) 23:03, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
