Q1: What geographic region is Ohio in?
A1: Ohio has been decided to be categorized as a Midwestern state. (Relevant discusison now archived 1, 2, 3 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and subsections) Q2: Why doesn't this article mention the Ohio memes?
A2: They are covered in a separate article: Ohio (meme). Multiple discussions have concluded that they are not relevant for inclusion in an encyclopedic article about the state of Ohio. Q3: What is the official date of statehood?

In Popular Culture
By WP:DUE, we may add a small piece (a line or so) about it being popular in generation z/alpha slang terms/ memes. Also I guess it's actually a bit more than that, few swear by it. Or rather how it is shaping the internet vernacular. Thoughts? --𝓔xclusive𝓔ditor Ping Me🔔 12:45, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- That's probably not necessary, since Ohio (meme) already exists and is listed at Ohio (disambiguation). - Eureka Lott 14:22, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- there probably should be short notation of that, as a gen Z is a meme that is very popular among my generation, and it deserves more presence on wikipedia, and although as the user who replied previously, noted that it was already listed, it wasn't really explained as it should be, and wikipedia is meant to be the largest collective of knowledge on the web, so it should have explanations for any slang that enters our vocabulary 99.251.114.193 (talk) 19:18, 21 July 2025 (UTC)

Ohio History Central links
The Ohio History Connection citations seem like good citations, but unfortunately the Ohio History Connection web site has changed so that all nine of their URLs now redirect to a generic "Research" page https://www.ohiohistory.org/research/. Fortunately, past editors used the citation template and provided an archive URL, so all I had to do was change the URL status to "dead" in eight places. (One was already marked "dead".)
I did randomly pick one of the citations "1913 Ohio State Wide Flood" https://ohiohistorycentral.org/w/1913_Ohio_Statewide_Flood for further research. I did find a page on the Ohio History Central web site on that same subject. It is essentially the same content except changed from an encyclopedic style to a less formal blog post style. Ordinarily, it would be best to change our citation to point to this newer page, however, I thought the archived version continues to be better for Wikipedia readers because it itself contains a list of citations. Which is why, I elected to use the archived version rather than the current one. I assumed the rest of the links were in the same situation, but some editor with more time than myself might want to confirm this for each of them. Size ranking
Context: So I've noticed that Pennsylvania has 115,883 km2 and is ranked 34th, whereas Ohio has 116,096 km2 and is also ranked 34th. But how does that make sense even when considering that Ohio is slightly bigger? Shouldn't it be the 33rd? 2601:280:5000:8650:EB67:E62C:CD7C:D98B (talk) 02:02, 2 August 2025 (UTC)

The website for the Government of Ohio is officially down and it has been for a long time now.
We should update the page to reflect that the website is no longer functioning, or a note to indicate this 2806:2F0:A0C0:F11C:225D:DFF:FE37:D340 (talk) 20:00, 8 August 2025 (UTC)

In the Ohio summary chart, for the "U.S. House Delegation" heading, change "Republicans" to the hyperlink form, "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_Party_(United_States)" linking to the Republican Party article. JadeScale (talk) 13:30, 13 August 2025 (UTC)

The usage of BCE in the heading needs to be changed back to BC to align with the AD/BC dating system used in the rest of the article and to make it more consistent under MOS:ERA and MOS:VAR, since the AD/BC system was utilized in this article prior to CE/BCE. Borders
Ohio's northern border is with Canada. It's in the middle of Lake Erie. That's why the islands off the Ohio shore are in Ohio, and why Pelee Island is in Canada. John FitzGerald (talk) John FitzGerald (talk) 21:20, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
