Tense?

Why is this article in past-tense? I thought it was policy to write everything in present-tense unless the subject doesn't exist anymore. For instance, the article for Apple I is written in present-tense, but I'm pretty sure more original Pebble watches still currently exist than original Apple I computers. Relation with Google

The last paragraph of the intro section, and the very last section, both mention out of nowhere that Google released the source code. But the article never mentions Google and how it is related to Pebble. Why would Google have access to Pebble's source code and why would it be in a position to take such a decision?

(I found out that Google owns Fitbit which owns Pebble, but I think that this really needs to be mentioned somewhere, this is really confusing as-is) App NS (talk) 18:21, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

I've tried to explain it towards the top, and how Fitbit bought Pebble, and Google bought Pebble and later open sourced the operating system. TechnoKittyCat (talk) 23:06, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

Should the article reflect that Pebble is no longer discontinued?

Pebble was discontinued from 2016 until 2025. Although the Pebble brand name was not used as it was still assigned to Google, development on the OS and watches started up again. Eric owns the rights to the Pebble name again, and is developing the new watches under the Pebble brand name. Should we change the wording to denote that the Pebble brand is no longer discontinued, and is now making new watches under Core Devices? Alternatively, should we create a new article for Pebble under Core Devices, as it's a completely separate company and mission from the original Pebble company? This article is written both about the company Pebble Technology and the Pebble Classic and Pebble Steel watches. There is a separate article about Pebble Time, so to me it would make sense to split this into two articles. One about the company (Pebble Technology), and another about the Pebble Classic and Steel watches.
I acknowledge however, that this would be quite difficult with how this page is currently written and would basically mean starting from scratch on both. Sidpatchy (talk) 16:24, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
