Original ingredients list
The article includes vanilla in the original ingredients list, but without a citation. The most authoritative reference I can find online is from a bottler. However, I took this picture of the original recipe at the Birthplace of Pepsi in New Bern, NC this weekend, and vanilla is not on the list.

It also leaves out kola nut (which was included for the caffeine). This list is the same as the one that was included on a typewritten paper in the asset sale when the original Pepsi-Cola Co went bankrupt in 1923 (see the document here; it's now in Eastern Carolina University's collection). The accuracy of it has previously been questioned because of the omitted vanilla and caffeine source, despite those having long been known as ingredients even before the bankruptcy sale, after which the formula was tweaked. Even here the source for vanilla being in the ingredients is... the Birthplace of Pepsi museum in New Bern, NC. Seems like even they're not sure. oknazevad (talk) 01:22, 21 October 2025 (UTC)

Change period to comma in first sentence of second paragraph in Second half of the 20th century: "By the mid 1950s, amid a time when cola products were booming all over the world. the drink was being bottled in over 700 plants across seventy countries around the world." to "By the mid 1950s, amid a time when cola products were booming all over the world, the drink was being bottled in over 700 plants across seventy countries around the world."
