Section heading: changes to due climate change
I think the section heading "changes due to global warming" should be changed to "Changes due to climate change". For the same reason why the main Wikipedia article is now called climate change and no longer "global warming". There is much more than just "warming" which is happening, there is also an intensification of the water cycle (see effects of climate change on the water cycle) etc. Also, the greenhouse gas emissions also cause ocean acidification which comes from the CO2 itself, not from the warming. So the general trend is to simply use the term climate change as it's all encompassing. See all the Wikipedia articles that now have "climate change" in their title, e.g. effects of climate change. - Climate change is the result of global warming, which therefore is the ultimate cause of changes in precipitation patterns. Beyond My Ken (talk) 11:28, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- it's not the warming as such that is the root cause but the imbalance of the Earth's energy budget. Stressing only the warming (temperature effect) is not enough. That's exactly why in all the Wikipedia articles about climate change/warming, we are now using "climate change" in the title, not "global warming". GA concerns
I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are outlined below:
- There is a lot of uncited text, particularily in the "Satellite data sets" section
- There is an orange "update" banner from 2022 on top of the "Changes due to global warming" section: has this been resolved?
Is anyone interested in addressing the above concerns, or should this go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 14:00, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

- @Z1720 Unfortunately no - so unless anyone has the time and energy to summarise IPCC AR6 section 4.2.1.1 Observed Changes in Precipitation from https://www.ipcc.ch/report/ar6/wg2/chapter/chapter-4/ I think the article is no longer good Chidgk1 (talk) 14:49, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
"Sleet"
"Sleet" has different meanings in the US and Commonwealth English, but the article was using it both ways without clarifying the difference in use. I've replaced all mentions of "sleet" with 'Rain and snow mixed ("sleet" in Commonwealth usage)' and 'Ice pellets ("sleet" in US usage) ' as appropriate. Iapetus (talk) 12:55, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
