Huh?
This article states: "When Ride delivered a speech at the National Science Teachers Association Conference in San Francisco on March 10, 2011, O'Shaughnessy noted that she looked ill, and had her book a doctor's appointment; a medical ultrasound revealed a tumor the size of a golf ball in her abdomen, which was found to be pancreatic cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Ride had ensured that O'Shaughnessy would inherit her estate when she drew up her will in 1992. They registered their domestic partnership on August 15, 2011. On October 27, surgeons removed part of Ride's pancreas, bile duct, stomach and intestine, and her gallbladder.[3]: 301–308 Ride died on July 23, 2012, at the age of 61, at her home in La Jolla." Not sure how her estate planning fits into the account of the cancer that ultimately led to her death. If deemed relevant to her life story, perhaps that information should be included in a description of her relationship with Ms. O'Shaughnessy. Frankly, we probably wouldn't include in an "encyclopedia" article as it isn't typically included unless great wealth and/or controversy (legal battles, etc.) made it particularly newsworthy in connection with the individual's life — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2025-37399-02 (talk) 23:24, 29 November 2025 (UTC)

- To add an “end=died” parameter (or something similar, such as the phrase “her death” following the text “1985-2012”) within a template documenting the years Dr. Ride was in a romantic partnership with Tam O'Shaughnessy in the article’s infobox, for clarification purposes, as the pair never separated; Dr. Ride died in 2012 from cancer. The absence of this parameter could inaccurately lead some readers to assume the relationship ended, when it didn’t.
