I wouldnt really consider it modern you know.. Its a kind of brick/marble sketchy thing...
I added some categories. However, I think this article could use a little more explanation about the city hall function of the building. Did the city move all its offices there? Gilliamjf 02:19, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- I worked in that building for the last three years. I know every little thing that happens in every little corner of the City Hall.... I will take a look pretty soon at the city hall page of for example San Francisco and I will copy that information set up of that one. Will do it today.
- added a picture of the stopera. Killerdark 18:38, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- Wow, quite impressive. I read online that there are some who like it, but also some who would like to see it torn down tomorrow. How do you feel about the Stopera building. Gilliamjf 01:35, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Origin and usage of the name
The name is an abbreviation of the protest slogan "Stop the Opera" and not a portmanteau of "st"adhuis (Dutch: "city hall") and "opera" as is often claimed. Because the word 'Stopera' was a name for the protests against the building, the theater has never used this name in its communication.
. I've tagged this as {{dubious}}, but some of it seems outright wrong. While the theatre does have a page making the first claim -- to which I'd offer the "primary source" objection -- that itself contradicts the second. Other-language wikipedias not only assert the truth of the stadhuis+opera, they have contempereanous references for that... from before it being built, or indeed the protests against that. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 03:10, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
