name
Not too sure about this, but isn't "Euphrates dam" a much more common name? Or even "Ath-Thawrah dam"? Asabbagh 07:05, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Euphrates dam is misleading, as there are two more dams on the Syrian Euphrates. Although Thawra dam is the official name (as noted in the infobox), Tabqa Dam is by far the most used name for the dam anywhere on internet and in the (scientific)literature, so I would leave it as it is.Zoeperkoe (talk) 05:30, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
- Almost nobody in Syria use the term Tabqa... more common names are Al-Thawra and Euphrates. Since the name Euphrates does not exactly reflects the subject dam, I find the name Al-Thawra is the most useable name. Do not forget that the official name is Al-Thawra as well. If there will be no response, I'm going to move the page name.--Zyzzzzzy (talk) 05:53, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Wrong Map
The map should be rotated 90o counter-clockwise, as the lake is of north-south orientation, but here it is in east-west direction, duh! Ralhazzaa 13:35, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Tabqa Dam → Euphrates Dam – Moving to title that is the common name, as noted on the page itself and also reflected in the Brittanica entry, on Ngrams and in recent news coverage, e.g. Al Jazeera, Arab News, etc. Iskandar323 (talk) 09:01, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support - per nom, note that the lake that it dams is called Euphrates Lake. Freedoxm (talk · contribs) 20:29, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nom, even state government media refer to it as the Euphrates Dam. HurricaneEdgar 11:40, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
