Proposed merge of TikTok USDS into TikTok

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
Consensus not to merge, ont he grounds of WP:SIZERULE, independent notability and importance of the topic; arguements of recentism isn't supported. Klbrain (talk) 16:12, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

This topic's notability appears to be somewhat questionable and skewed towards WP:RECENTISM, and we can potentially discuss this joint venture on TikTok rather than as a separate standalone article. Aasim (話すはなす) 21:47, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Oppose — The company is not the platform. There is plenty to be said about the negotiations of the divestment that would not be appropriate in this page, which exceeds 14,000 words; per WP:SIZERULE, another article is necessary on such a complex issue. elijahpepe@wikipedia (he/him) 22:57, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose - This is a major restructuring of the app in one of the biggest media markets on the planet, tied to a piece of legislation that was meant to ban it. That requires more coverage than a blip in the main article about the app. TrueCRaysball 💬|✏️ 03:49, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Soft oppose just chiming in to say that it's probably best to keep them separate or if merging them then highlighting TikTok USDS in the articles start. It's obviously something that is too big to be ignored. TikTok in the US will be owned by Americans. Just not sure how we describe that or show that. Completely Random Guy (talk) 12:37, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose per above. TikTok USDS definitely deserves more coverage than a short mention in TikTok. Skitash (talk) 15:01, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Oppose This is way too impactful to be merged. KreamoNoBrainos/Kreamy/Fat Man (talk) 23:29, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose It's already generating its own news, this will only grow with time.User:CaptainKablueyX 23:46, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Partnerships Need Work

I Would to point out that TikTok had a recent paternahip with Feeding America that involved a 'Garden For Good' challenge that allowed users to make donations to feedong America through a temporary in-app game. Why isn't it noted somewhere on this Wikipedia page? EricEgo 18:09, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

Please suggest the edit with necessary reliable source(s). Let's see what we can run. Some of everything (talk) 04:26, 1 March 2026 (UTC)
