Toei Asakusa Line → Asakusa line – For Singapore MRT's lines, all of which have renamed from "xxx MRT line" to "xxx line" as the main article names. Does that case suitable for Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway series? Sinsyuan✍️TW→GA 03:38, 1 December 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 04:33, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. The situation between different cities are different and should not necessarily translate to each other without further evidence. Without commenting on Tokyo Metro lines at the moment, the Toei system is frequently referred to by sources with the "Toei XXX Line" format. Some instances (quotes included, will comment for all Toei lines to avoid repeating myself too many times):
- Mentioned two or more lines: (beginning of the paragraph, compare with the Tokyo Metro lines)/Includes the Toei Asakusa Line (pink), Toei Mita Line (blue), and the Toei Shinjuku Line (chartreuse)
- Toei Asakusa Line: New trains for Tokyo’s Toei Asakusa Line/pulls into the Toei Asakusa Line's Daimon Station/at Daimon Station on the Toei Asakusa Line on Dec. 8, 2023/with the building of the Toei Asakusa Line (subway)/and the Toei Asakusa (1960) and Hibiya (1961) lines
- Toei Oedo Line: a plan to extend the Toei Oedo Line subway/A unique collaboration between Ed Sheeran and the Toei Oedo subway line/The publicly operated Toei Oedo Line is introducing/The Toei Oedo Line subway will temporarily reduce service
- Toei Shinjuku Line: (in the Map, notice how Marunouchi Line did not have the Tokyo Metro label before it)
- Toei Mita Line: had been used previously on the Toei Mita Line
- Given the prevalence of such a format in sources, the current article titles satisfy WP:COMMONNAME. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 12:45, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- And I just realised apparently Toei Shinjuku Line does not have an RM open (presumably given Seibu Shinjuku Line also exists). Therefore the titles between different Toei lines should also be WP:CONSISTENT with one another. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 12:48, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- ...why are there individual RMs for each article? XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 18:14, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

– WP:DISTINGUISH, according to Talk:Ginza line#Requested move 2 January 2026, there's no necessary for adding operator name before "XXX Line". For evidence, "Midōsuji Line". (This requested move excludes Toei Shinjuku Line for another railway line with "Seibu Shinjuku Line") Sinsyuan✍️TW→GA 06:18, 1 February 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose. My stance hasn't changed since the above RM. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 01:11, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 02:34, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- EvanTech10's statement pointed that most Wikipedia articles about train lines around the world don't have their operator mentioned. Thus, I'd like to make these move requests. Sinsyuan✍️TW→GA 02:56, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- You never addressed the WP:COMMONNAME and WP:CONSISTENT (to Toei Shinjuku Line) argument which I said in the last RM and referred to above. CONSISTENT says
titles should be consistent among articles covering similar topics
(emphasis mine). Shinjuku Line is the most similar topic to all the Toei Subway lines, and takes precedence over railway lines in other cities or countries. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 03:22, 2 February 2026 (UTC)- However, Seibu has the Shinjuku Line, should I make the request move for "Toei Shinjuku Line" to "Shinjuku Line (Toei)" as well? I feel confused with WP:DISTINGUISH and WP:CONSISTENT. In fact, Seibu and Tokyo Metro have Yūrakuchō Lines, the title for these lines show "Seibu Yūrakuchō Line" and "Tokyo Metro Yūrakuchō Line" separately. However, articles for Osaka Metro lines provide different style of naming, like "Midōsuji Line" and "Osaka Metro Chūō Line". Sinsyuan✍️TW→GA 03:33, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Additionally, look at Seibu official website, it shows "Shinjuku Line" and "Seibu Yūrakuchō Line". For WP:CONSISTENT, I think the title for Seibu lines can't be suitable. Sinsyuan✍️TW→GA 03:44, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- WP:NATURALDIS means the current Toei Shinjuku Line title is to stay, and hence aligning the other Toei lines and putting a Toei in front just like Shinjuku Line, which I repeat
is the most similar topic to all the Toei Subway lines
, is very much compliant with WP:CONSISTENT. Seibu lines are outside of the scope of this discussion, so please keep your arguments to the three articles listed above only. And again, I have listed various examples where the lines are named in WP:RS in the format “Toei XXX Line”, thus proving such a format is WP:COMMONNAME, which probably is the most authoritative guideline on titling articles. I’ve yet to see any evidence from your side that engages with COMMONNAME thus far. S5A-0043🚎(Talk) 03:56, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

- Train lines that are not (closely related to) the three in this RM are, per S5A-0043 above, beyond the scope of this discussion. However, there's an active discussion about Japanese subway line titling which may be of interest to you at List of urban rail systems in Japan. I encourage you to leave your thoughts there.
