So much overlap with fresh water
I see a lot of overlap with the article on fresh water. How can we organise this better? For example, the article talks about sources of freshwater and water uses, all of which relate to freshwater. Is there any non-freshwater that is regarded as a water resource? I guess we do have wastewater and seawater for desalination that are included in the "water resources" but are not freshwater. We could probably restructure the article a bit to make that clearer. I'll try to improve on that. EMsmile (talk) 08:22, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- I've done a bit of work on that today. I think it's a bit better. EMsmile (talk) 13:34, 2 June 2021 (UTC)
- I feel that there is still overlap between this article and fresh water. Perhaps it could help to add a hatnote to each article which explains how the two articles differ. Suggestions? EMsmile (talk) 14:03, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- I've added this hatnote now: This article is about all types of waters that are of potential use to humans. For a naturally occurring type of water resource that humans use a lot, see freshwater. EMsmile (talk) 08:40, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Removed a "further reading" item
PaulineKay I have removed this further reading item which you had added: Kneitz, Agnes, and Marc Landry (eds.), “On Water: Perceptions, Politics, Perils,” RCC Perspectives 2012, no 2. doi.org/10.5282/rcc/5590. I don't think there is a need to add this publication from 9 years ago. See a related discussion here to understand the different aspects of further reading lists. Condensed the section on water uses
Open Water (Management)
I think that IWRM and Open Water should be separate topics, due to their importance as management strategies that go beyond just water resources. There are many sub pages (e.g., Singapore New Water) that deal with specific water resources. Let's discuss. Thanks LoveElectronicLiterature (talk) 00:27, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
