"A web scraper is an API" - is this correct?

Quote from article: "A web scraper is an Application Programming Interface (API) to [...]" But is this correct? Isn't a web scraper more than just an API? -- 194.39.218.10 (talk) 14:58, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

A web scraper is generally a program. The API aspect in the article is misleading. Have removed it. Jmccormac (talk) 07:23, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

Proposal: Adding Grepsr as a notable web scraping platform

Hello,

I’d like to propose including Grepsr as an example of a web scraping platform in the article. Grepsr provides enterprise web scraping solutions, and its technology and impact have been covered in independent sources:

Could the community consider if adding a reference to Grepsr in the "Tools and platforms" section (or External links) would improve the article’s coverage of practical scraping tools?

Thank you for your consideration. Umang grepsr (talk) 08:48, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
