Previous discussions about moving this article date back to when the status of the names of the parishes was unclear. That is no longer the case since the de facto name of Woughton (parish) became de jure in 2025.

So I believe that it is now an uncontroversial move of Woughton (parish) to be simply Woughton. There is no ambiguity, there is now only one Woughton.

Agree and Woughton should probably be moved to Woughton on the Green as there doesn't appear to be a settlement called just "Woughton". I have removed the disambiguation template on the Woughton article to prevent links being fixed that shouldn't be. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:01, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Sorry, @C,S, since you say you agree, can you clarify your and Woughton should probably be moved to Woughton on the Green, please? My proposal is simply that that the (parish) suffix be discarded (in effect).

IMO, there is no basis for a broad concept article like Shenley, Milton Keynes, which is a much larger area with quite a few old farmsteads and modern neighbourhoods called Shenley-something.

We will certainly need a hatnote that advises that the "Woughton" in historical records is detailed at Old Woughton. (Woughton-on-the-Green already redirects there and, tbh, if anything needs to be said about Woughton-on-the-Green (parish) [deliberate red link], Old Woughton would be the better place for it.) @JMF: The edit history currently at Woughton should probably be moved to Woughton on the Green as there doesn't appear to be a settlement named just "Woughton" (the "Woughton on the Green" doesn't contain any substantial history) and then Woughton (parish) should be moved to Woughton. @Crouch, Swale: Yes, I see what you mean but I'm afraid I don't see it as that simple. The history has edits about both 'halves' of the original parish, inextricably intertwined. It will have to be declared with a permanent FAQ on the talk pages of the articles for each of the two parishes.
